Combat Rifle Training

A two day introduction to Rifle

This class is to establish a baseline level of marksmanship on the M4 / M16 series Rifle, proper employment of each weapon system, and dry fire practice to develop muscle memory and thought provoking concepts on firing in various types of environments. This class is to build a solid foundation for future long-range marksmanship, as well as close quarters reactionary shooting.

Standing Position

Meant for hasty shots, this is a very unstable position and should be used for immediate action and seeking cover or movement to the threat while supressing it.

Kneeling Position

More stable than standing, your body is still very exposed.

Prone Supported

Much more stable and much lower profile. This is optimal when possible.

Sight Picture

Correct sight picture and what to focus on while engaging your target is critical information while trying to place fight stopping hits.

Breath Control

Another key piece to the fundamentals, there are a couple of technuiqes depending on the specific situation.

Target Feedback

On short ranes, it can really help give feedback on grouping and improvement of said groups by using buddy teams on a simple 25 meter range.

Grouping

After confirming zero, when possible, confriming data by shooting 100 meters - 300 meters, can really give the Soldier a better understanding of how the fundamentals of marksmanship affect bullet trajectory at distance.

Distance

Range estimation and distance to target can take time to learn. Some simple things like using the front sight to measure that can help greatly.

Reading Wind

A wind at 50 meters may not make much of a difference, but at 300 - 600 meters, it can really take effect.

Remedial Action

Fix it and get it back in the fight. Similar to the Combat Pistol Course, malfunction identification and clearances are a key component to Soldier survival in a gunfight.
